IT ALL STARTED WITH THE LOVE FOR LUXURY

When I was a little kid, being the first grandchild, the first niece... Mainly the first baby at home.  I was spoilt by my aunts, uncles, my grandparents.   And of course, my father gave me a taste of what is expensive.  I was raised in a household where you can tell what good food is, what is fresh, what is rotten.  At this age, I already know such differences.  Trouble was, I am affected by being a neat-freak.  You can’t blame me.  You see every day when I wake up, the house is spic and span.  I don’t remember much of a maid, because what she does is to keep the laundry or iron stuff.  But the cleaning perse was done by my uncle.  He basically uses the “bunot” – a coconut husk.  The floors are made of pure wood, so imagine how shiny it was.  As if a fly might slip if it passes by.  And I remember my aunt; she wipes the walls apart from all the furniture.  All of these are done every single day, every day.

Now, here goes the food.  If I can still remember, I am a very picky eater as a child.  All I ever wanted is to eat FRIED CHICKEN!  If we are dining outside, that’s the usual order that I want.  No more, no less.  So imagine why now I have chicken skin.  LOL!

As I grew older, I usually stay in the kitchen, and watch what they cook, though I only eat the soup if there are vegetables in it.  But everything was done in a gourmet and epicurean way.  I could tell the disparity between superior cooking from not because we attended parties, events and dining out.

At a very young age, I already learned how to sauté, partially cook, and arrange by plating.  Maybe because I love watching “Wok with Yan”, and that international cooking.  Remember during the 80s we don’t have cable.  So basically we rely on cookbooks.

When I first made to travel alone, in a not so distant place.  It became an addiction that I need to travel at least once a year.  I am so dumbfounded and delighted about the different cultures, their food, and their way of living.  Then I couldn’t stop to sit in one place anymore…

Nonetheless, I created this blog separately, so that I can compile all the food, the travel expeditions that I went to, and everything that is beautiful in my eyes.  Yes… I call them luxury as I speak.
